Bio: Dr. João Ricardo Vissoci is an assistant professor in the Duke School of Medicine, Department of Surgery, Division of Emergency Medicine and the Co-Director of the GEMINI Center. Prior to joining the faculty in the Department of Surgery, Dr. Vissoci was a post-doctoral fellow for one year at Duke Global Health Institute. Dr. Vissoci is a psychologist with a PhD in Social Psychology from the Pontificia Universidade Catolica de Sao Paulo/Brazil and works closely with the Global Emergency Medicine section. His research interests include research methods and innovation applied to access and quality of care and primary care and global mental health with an emphasis on mental health reintegration. Dr. Vissoci has actively worked in Brazil looking into population health, health systems and quality of care, and in Tanzania and Uganda with a focus on traumatic brain injury mental health reintegration.
