Bio: João Vítor is involved in research activities in ongoing research projects in the GEMINI Research Center, while pursuing a Ph.D. in Biosciences and Pathophysiology at the State University of Maringá (UEM), Maringa, Brazil. During the execution of his thesis, he got a taste of how data analysis tools can provide effective insight into health care problems which sparked his interest in this research field. His research interests include access to health care (and the lack of it) and its impact on the dynamics of key populational health outcomes and applying data analysis to tackle public health conditions. He also takes part in leading efforts of continuous education and training within GEMINI.

João Vítor holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences and a Master’s of Science in Biosciences and Pathophysiology from UEM. Previous research interests include microbiology, the development of new antimicrobial drugs, and fighting drug-resistant tuberculosis.

João Vítor is a nerd and is always eager to talk about anything from dinosaurs to comics and games.
