AMANI Adolescent Mental Health in Africa Network Initiative
Locations
Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania
Project overview
The Adolescent Mental Health in Africa Network Initiative (AMANI) focuses on the rising burden of mental health difficulties among adolescents in Africa. One of the initiative’s aims is to leverage previously collected data from four collaborating DGHI priority partner locations (PPLs) – Eldoret in Kenya, Moshi and Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, and Cape Town in South Africa. AMANI datasets contain similar measures related to depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, and suicidal ideation. RDAC’s data architect worked with AMANI to facilitate re-use and combination of existing datasets by designing the AMANI Dataverse in the data repository UNC Dataverse to collect, describe, and prepare data for sharing.
