Yvonne Sawe, is a research assistant working under the mentorship of Catherine Staton, MD, MSc. and Blandinda Mmbaga, MD, Ph.D. Under their guidance, she participated on data collection of several Research Studies such as Transition of care for injury patients in Moshi, Community needs assessment in three district of Kilimanjaro region and Gender and alcohol use in Moshi, Tanzania which aims to understand how and why alcohol use differs between men and women in this region. The aim of the study is to effectively reduce unhealthy alcohol use among women in particular. Yvonne received her bachelor’s degree in Population and Development Planning from Institute of Rural Development Planning, Dodoma Tanzania. Originally from Moshi, Tanzania, she now currently works as a Research Assistant within KCMC Duke University Collaboration in Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre Hospital’s Emergency Department which she works on data collection of Developing and Implementing a Machine Learning based Clinical Decision Making Tool for Traumatic Brain Injury research study.
