Armstrong Mbi Obale is a MSc. in Global Health graduate at Duke Global Health Institute and plays the role of graduate research assistant at GEMINI. Beyond the primary graduate research assistant role, he collaborates with team members and focuses on improving skills in scientific writing, data science, research methods, and data analyses.
Obale’s research focus within GEMINI is on the collection, storage, and use of injury data within low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Under the mentorship of Dr. Joao Ricardo Nickenig Vissoci, he is currently working on a project that seeks to establish a global repository for injury data from LMICs. Beyond being a means of achieving his personal goals, Obale hopes that setting up a global repository for injury data from LMICs will open new frontiers for global injury research.
Obale is a holder of MSc. in Epidemiology and Control of Infectious Diseases and BSc. in Nursing from the University of Buea, Cameroon. Among other activities, he, over a period of 3 years, volunteered in the Nurse-Led Rural Diabetes Project, where he played the role of field coordinator. Obale is always willing to go an extra mile to ensure that things are properly done. He holds on to honesty and integrity as core values. During his free time, he either listens to music, plays the piano or watches movies.
