Charlotte Yuan
Research Assistant
Bio: Charlotte Yuan is a Research Assistant at the GEMINI Center and an MScGH candidate under the mentorship of Dr. Joao Ricardo N. Vissoci. She assists with various projects led by GEMINI. Her research focuses on the association of alcohol use with nutritional status among hospitalized patients, by validating mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) as a malnutrition screening tool. Prior to coming to Duke, she worked as a research assistant at West China Hospital in China. Charlotte holds a BE in Food Science and Engineering, as well as a BS in Food Science and Technology. As an advocate of equal rights and social justice, Charlotte hopes to extend the philosophy of health equity from the GEMINI Center to her experience as a student at the Duke Global Health Institute and beyond.
