Alcohol Use Behavioral Phenotyping Test (AUBPT)
Project overview
A complex web of biopsychosocial factors underlies predisposition towards harmful alcohol use and alcohol use disorder (AUD). With the growing AUD burden in low- and middle-income countries, it is important to systematically measure alcohol use and AUD risk using valid and reliable tools that are empirically justified and interpretable across diverse cultures.
This team worked to create the Alcohol Use Behavioral Phenotyping Test (AUBPT), a computer-based dimensional assessment that can be culturally adapted to assess alcohol use behaviors across countries. AUBPT includes gamified versions of behavioral paradigms that can evaluate the transdiagnostic biopsychological constructs behind the disorder. The team partnered with sites in Tanzania, Brazil and, India to translate, culturally adapt and validate AUBPT for use in these settings.
