PhD Candidate (TRECK)
Winfrida is a doctoral candidate at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University College (KCMUCo) with a focus on Applied Epidemiology and Implementation Science. Her research examines alcohol-related injuries among young people in Northern Tanzania, aiming to develop age- and culturally appropriate interventions to reduce alcohol use and related harm. She is particularly interested in adolescent and young people’s health, alcohol and other substance use, mental health, trauma and injuries.
As a scholar in the NIH-funded D43 TRECK program, Winfrida applies epidemiological methods to real-world public health challenges, translating research into actionable interventions. Beyond research, she contributes to academia as a facilitator in Epidemiology, Applied Biostatistics and Implementation Science mentoring students and supporting capacity-building in data-driven decision-making. Her work is dedicated to bridging the gap between research and practice, ensuring the effective implementation of health interventions in resource-constrained settings.
