Bio: Parker will complete her master’s thesis research at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre under the mentorship of Francis Sakita MD; Anjni Joiner DO, MPH; and Emily Smith, PhD. Her research will focus on barriers and facilitators to emergency care for acute injury patients from patients’ perspectives.

Her upcoming project will involve focus group discussions, injury data, and catastrophic expenditure data in order to better understand the emergency care landscape from patients’ perspectives. She hopes this project will provide a foundation of data that, using the Three Delays Model, will help develop interventions that reduce barriers to emergency care. Parker graduated from Duke University with a B.S. in Neuroscience and Global Health; she is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Global Health at Duke University. In her free time, Parker enjoys playing drums with the Duke University Marching Band and taking pictures with a focus on animal and sports photography.
