Pamela was a global health master’s student at Duke University (MSc 2024) and works as a Research Assistant under the supervision of Dr. Emily Smith. She previously received her Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology and her Bachelor of Arts in World Languages and Cultures from the University of South Florida. Her research work focused on the molecular mechanisms of Parkinson’s disease and access to care for elderly adults in Latin American countries.
At Duke, Pamela’s master’s thesis focused on patterns of surgical disease and access to care among children in the Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania. Her areas of interest include pediatric cancer and surgery, data science, and health system strengthening. In her free time, she enjoys painting and doing pilates.
