Lily Huo
Bio: Lily is a second year global health masters student at Duke University working under the tutelage of Dr. Catherine Staton. Her research primarily focuses on traumatic brain injury (TBI) in LMICs with her master’s thesis being on the development of a machine learning based clinical decision tool for TBI in LMICs. She hopes that her research will provide the groundwork for the development of a cost-effective clinical decision making tool that can be used in low-resource health centers throughout LMICs to more efficiently provide care to TBI patients. She works closely with mentors Dr. Catherine Staton and Dr. Joao Vissoci and is also involved in other projects in the GEMINI Center such as transition of care and alcohol intervention studies. Before coming to Duke, Lily attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for her undergraduate studies where she was selected as a 2020 Burchard scholar for her academic excellence in interdisciplinary studies and graduated with degrees in biological engineering and political science. Furthermore, Lily is a North Carolinian herself and enjoys hiking the blue ridge mountains in the west during the fall and swimming at Emerald Isle in the summer.
