I am a nurse specializing in venomous injuries and dermatology, with extensive experience in epidemiology and neglected parasitic diseases, particularly snakebites in the Amazon. Since 2012, I have held academic and research positions at the Amazonas State University (UEA) and Fundação Alfredo da Matta (FUAM), where I currently lead the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Health Technologies (CPITS) and serve as the vice lead of the Center for Clinical Research on Animal Envenomings (CEPCLAM).
My research focuses on clinical trials, particularly in snakebite treatment and infectious diseases. I have led multiple studies, including a randomized trial on early antibiotic therapy for snakebite patients and a clinical study on leprosy treatment, funded by Janssen-Cilag. Additionally, I co-investigate the Ivermectin Safety in Small Children (ISSC) trial, a multi-country study assessing the safety and efficacy of ivermectin in scabies-infected children.
