Bio: Dr. Keating recently completed an NIH-funded Fogarty Global Health fellowship studying pediatric injuries at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC) in Moshi under the mentorship of Dr. Catherine Staton, Prof Blandina Mmbaga, and Dr. Melissa Watt. Her research was a mixed methods study that aimed to understand the epidemiology of injured children and the barriers to care perceived by family members and healthcare providers at KCMC. Her team found many factors contributing to delays in reaching definitive care. Her next study aims to create a health systems intervention at the first medical contact in Northern Tanzania in order to decrease time to definitive care for pediatric injury patients and subsequently improve outcomes.

Dr. Keating completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Notre Dame and received her medical degree at Mayo Medical School. She completed her Pediatrics and Global Child Health residency at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital, and subsequently her Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Global Health fellowship at the University of Utah/Primary Children’s Hospital. She also completed a Masters of Science in Public Health at the University of Utah.

Dr. Keating is currently an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Utah in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. She is the Program Director for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine-Global Health fellowship track. Her specific clinical and academic interests are in global pediatric injuries, access to acute care for children in resource-limited settings, and implementation science.
