Diego Galdino França
Research Assistant
Bio: Diego is a Brazilian research assistant who have been collaborating to GEMINI in research projects involving data science, quantitative methods, and R programming. Under the mentorship of João Vissoci, PhD, Diego’s work focuses on analyzing trauma registry data from Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre in Moshi, Tanzania, in order to understand patterns among variables and generate knowledge to support evidence-based practice and improve quality in trauma care.
Currently, Diego is a Master’s student from the Department of Physical Education at State University of Maringá, Brazil. The goal of his dissertation is to develop an assessment tool for the risk of falls in the elderly through a machine learning algorithm. Hopefully, the research will result in a low-cost, easy-to-use tool for healthcare facilities, especially those with few resources and high demand.
Throughout the years, Diego has developed studies in Sport Psychology, Psychometrics, Epidemiology, Global Health, and Data Science. Most recently, he started to learn UX/UI Design and, in his free time, he enjoys playing acoustic guitar.
