Environmental disasters pose immediate and long term threats to both physical and mental health. Even after the immediate impacts of weather events are over, mental and physical health effects continue. Through, health screenings, interviews, focus groups, of health workers, community leaders and community residents, and use of secondary data sets, this work documents the mental health needs of populations who live in climate risk zones, and identifies risk and protective factors that can be leveraged to create interventions.
