Effects of Air Pollution on Cardiopulmonary Disease in Urban and Peri-urban Residents in Beijing (AIRLESS)

The Airless study uses personal sampler of air pollutants to obtain highly precise measurements of air pollutants exposure of the subjects, the functional indicators and biomarkers of the cardiopulmonary system of the subjects, in order to evaluate their cardiopulmonary conditions and establish association of the exposure of air pollutants and the functional indicators and biomarkers of the cardiopulmonary system. The results of this study will be useful for identifying the key components and sources of PM2.5 that cause the most adverse health effects in human subjects and will provide crucial evidences for the intervention of air pollution in megacity Beijing.
